The Kenton County Police Department Evidence Collection Unit (ECU) responds to all major crime scenes in unincorporated Kenton County and wherever the unit is requested in Northern Kentucky.
Members of the Evidence Collection Unit have received additional training in the areas of identification, processing, preservation, and documentation of evidence. Members are trained in advanced latent print development, DNA collection, 3D scanning, crime scene photography, use of alternate light sources, and trace evidence collection to name a few areas.
The Special Investigations Van (SIV) is used to carry the equipment for the ECU as well as supporting STAR and the Aviation Section. The SIV also provides lighting, power, canopies, tables, and work spaces for investigators when on scenes.
Members of the ECU are available to respond to process crime scenes or provide technical assistance for any agency requesting assistance in Northern Kentucky.
