Due to the growing public health impacts of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the Independence Courthouse (5272 Madison Pike, Independence, KY) and the Kenton County Government Center (1840 Simon Kenton Way, Covington, KY) will be closed to the public effective immediately.
As a result of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), Kenton County Fiscal Court and partnering cities have extended both the filing and payment of the Net Profit / Gross Receipts Business Returns that were originally due on April 15, 2020. The filing deadline for these returns have been extended to July 15, 2020 without penalty or interest. All Kenton County Occupational Licenses with an expiration date of April 15, 2020 will now have that expiration date extended to July 15, 2020. The License should be renewed on the return as normal.
This extension applies to the Business Net Profit / Gross Receipts Return only and does not include Quarterly Payroll Withholding returns and payments. Quarterly Payroll Withholdings Returns and payments are due at the normal filing dates.

Business Services is responsible for the collection of KRS 160.482 - 160.488, which are the fees imposed for the privilege of engaging in any business, profession, occupation, rental or trade within Kenton County and Cities in Kentucky regardless of the legal residence of the party so engaged.
Please note that the rate, fee type, minimum and maximum fee and the City Business License Renewal Fee, varies depending upon the City in which the business activity occurs. In addition, please note that any business activity conducted within Kenton County is subject to Kenton County Occupational Fees in addition to any City Occupational Fees and Business License Renewals.
