Kenton County Public Works offers disposal of Freon containing items for citizens of Kenton County. Freon containing items include, but are not limited to, refrigerators, freezers, AC units, and dehumidifiers.
Effective November 1, 2021, there will be a $25 per unit charge for any Freon-containing item dropped off at Kenton County Public Works. Kenton County Solid Waste transfers these items to a vendor for final disposal and recycling. The fee covers the cost of disposal.
Items are accepted at Kenton County Public Works (420 Independence Station Road, Independence, KY), Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Proof of Kenton County residency will be required at drop-off.
