Kenton County Animal Services adjusts public hours

News Archive Posted on July 15, 2025

Kenton County Animal Services (KCAS) will no longer be open to the public on Mondays, effective Aug. 1. This change allows staff additional time for deep cleaning and sanitation efforts that are critical to maintaining a healthy, safe environment for the animals in their care.

“Shelter life can be tough on pets, and creating a clean, low-stress environment is a key way we can support animal health and wellness,” KCAS Director Kelly Sauer said. “Dedicating Mondays to enhanced cleaning helps us stay ahead of potential health concerns and ensures we’re always providing the best possible care.”

KCAS will continue to offer public services such as adoptions, stray intake and lost pet reunification Tuesday through Saturday, with the following hours:

Tuesday – Friday: Noon to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Animal control officers will continue to respond to emergencies seven days a week, including Mondays.

Kenton County Animal Services is located at 1020 Mary Laidley Drive in Covington. Potential adopters can check out any of our available pets online at bit.ly/MeetOurPets.
