Kenton County residents are living longer, and our community is changing. The Kenton County Age Well Initiative, launched in January 2025, was created to help us prepare. This research and community development effort responds to the growing number of older adults and the increasing diversity in housing, health needs, and support systems across the county.
The Age Well Initiative brought together 424 residents, caregivers, service providers and stakeholders through surveys, interviews, focus groups and community conversations. Using an asset based approach, the process focused on the strengths already present in Kenton County.
The result is a draft Five-Year Aging Readiness Plan that outlines practical strategies to strengthen long term care and caregiving, housing, transportation and community connection. The vision is to create a community where older adults can remain rooted in supportive neighborhoods with the resources they need to age well and continue contributing to a thriving region.
The draft plan (click on the cover below to read it) is now open for public comment. We encourage all residents to review it and share feedback. Your voice will help shape how Kenton County plans for the future.
