For several months now, the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD) has served as the administrator of a large data study about housing inventory and costs and their relationship to economic conditions and jobs in the eight-county Northern Kentucky region.
The fiscal courts of Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen and Pendleton counties, alongside CVG Airport, funded the completion of the NKY Housing Data Study. The goal of the study was to establish shared baseline data that all community partners can use for varied purposes.
Key takeaways for the northern portion of Northern Kentucky, encompassing Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties, include:
- Workforce job creation is out-pacing workforce housing.
- The supply of single-family, 3-4 bedroom homes outpaces demand.
- A lack of housing affordable for jobs being created will make it harder and more expensive for employers to find and recruit labor at prevailing market wages.
