Due to the growing public health impacts of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), several Kenton County Fiscal Court departments may be experiencing a change in office availability.
Parks and Recreation
Kenton County Parks are currently open to the public for passive recreation, but, due to COVID-19 (coronavirus), shelter houses, and playground equipment are closed until further notice. All park restrooms remain closed from the winter season (port-o-lets are available), but please plan accordingly with hand sanitizer. Passive recreation includes hiking, fishing, biking, wildlife observation and walking. All programs continue to be cancelled until further notice. A list of parks is available here.
The Kenton County Parks & Recreation Office is closed to the general public. Parks staff is still responding to citizen’s requests and can be reached at (859) 525-7529 or by via email.

Kenton County Public Works
Kenton County Public Works has suspended the “Big Blue Recycle Bin” recycling program in Kenton County. Kenton County will pull their bins from their locations. The safety and health of those involved in the program was a leading factor in this decision.
The Public Works campus is closed to the general public until further notice. To obtain a Trash Voucher, visit the website. Residents may also contact the office at (859) 392-1920 for assistance.

Kenton County Police Department
Kenton County Police Department is currently not conducting civilian fingerprinting services.
Kenton County Animal Services (KCAS)
is suspending all non-essential services until further notice. KCAS will not be providing adoption services or accepting owner surrendered animals. If you have an appointment, a member of the shelter staff will contact you to reschedule. If you have a lost or found pet, please call the shelter at (859) 356-7400 and you will be provided instruction on how to proceed.
Animal Control Officers are restricted to emergency calls. For all other complaints, call the shelter at (859) 356-7400 and an officer will be available to speak with you.
Staff is available by phone:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: Noon to 6 PM
Wednesday: Noon to 4 PM
Saturday: 10 AM to 4 PM
Kenton County Detention Center
Inmate visitation has been canceled at the Kenton County Detention Center until further notice. Jailer Terry Carl is taking this precautionary measure in accordance with the Kentucky Department of Corrections, Office of the Governor and suggested protocols from the Kentucky Jailers Association. Limiting the non-inmate traffic within the facility will reduce the possibility of the COVID-19 virus being brought in from the outside.
All requests for inmate property release must be made to 859-363-2417. Request will be reviewed and approved or denied on a case by case basis. If approved, pick-ups will be scheduled Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00AM and 3:00PM.
