Fishing Reel Maintenance Workshop

March 2, 2006

Kenton County Parks & Recreation will present a workshop on proper fishing reel maintenance on Tuesday, February 21st, beginning at 11:00 am and lasting until mid-afternoon.  Vikki Rawe, Aquatics Educator for Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources, will show us how to remove old line, then clean and oil the reels, and spool on new fishing line.

We will "practice" on KCP&R's 50 Shakespeare rod and reel combos that are used during the annual Kids All-American Fishing Derby, which will be held this year on June 3rd.  When we finish this project, we will all be experts!  Got 3 or 4 hours?  We need 4-6 adult volunteers (but more are certainly welcome to help!) and we'll buy lunch.

The workshop will take place at the KCP&R office at 3902 Richardson Rd.  Call (859) 525-PLAY (7529) to volunteer and so we can plan for lunch accordingly.

Would you like someone you know to receive an e-mail update of our once-a-week "What's Happening in Kenton County's Parks"?  Just call and we will set you up!

Want to know more?  Want to get involved?  Check out the Kenton County Recreation web site!  Log on to www.kentoncounty.org and click on Departments, and then on Recreation.  Take a look at the Programs & Events Calendar – we'll replace the '05 schedule with the entire '06 calendar very soon.  Please use the Comments & Suggestions link to tell us how you feel about the programs we offer, what you like or don't like, and what you'd like to see in future programs.  We are always looking and listening for new ideas!

Call Kenton County Parks & Recreation at (859) 525-PLAY (7529) to ask how you can help – we are always in need of volunteers and funding sponsors for our programs!  If we're not in, please leave a message and we will return your call.
