Captain Averdick, with 17 years experience, oversees the Court Services division. He and his bailiffs are responsible for providing protection to four Circuit Court Judges, four District Court Judges and one State Supreme Court Justice.

The division's 35 full- and part-time bailiffs provide 24-hour security at the new Kenton County Justice Center and monitor closed circuit television cameras, metal detectors and two X-ray machines. During trials, division personnel also provides security for witnesses, victims, juries and defendants during trials. The bailiffs are trained by the Administrative Office of the Courts and the Sheriff's Staff.

2007 Delinquent Tax Bills Sale


The Sheriff's Tax Bill Sale was conducted on April 1, 2008.  Due to the total amount of the offers, the bills have been forwarded to the Finance Cabinet.  Any questions about how to redeem a bill sold to the State should be directed to the Clerk's Office at 859/ 392-1650
