Kenton County Police Department
Community Policing
Activities and Programs
The Kenton County Police Department provides several programs to the community geared to enhance the quality of life in Kenton County.
School Resource Officer Program
We currently have five full-time School Resource Officers assigned to six schools throughout Kenton County. The officers were servicing eight schools until financial considerations led to a school board decision to close two of the schools. Our School Resource Officers begin their days before the first school bus arrives and remain at the school until the last school bus leaves. Throughout the course of the school day, they provide a myriad of services including, but not limited to, law enforcement duties, site security, counseling services, and instruction in programs like "Character Counts".
Southern Kenton County Enrichment Program
During the summer months, our School Resource Officers work in concert with school board representatives presenting a two-week program to adolescent-aged children. The program targets children making the move from elementary to middle school. Various activities are conducted to include field trips to local museums, fishing derbies, computer lab activities, and other sporting events.
Citizens' Police Academy
On September 3rd the Kenton County Police started its 8th adult Citizens Police Academy Class. During this 10-week course the citizens were given information on how the police department functioned to protect and serve the citizen's of Kenton County. On November 12th the current class will graduate. The police department will be conducting a class in the spring of 2008. If you would be interested in taking the spring class, call 356-3895 to obtain information and an application.
Youth Citizen's Police Academy
