Skittles Championship of the World
June 21 at Pioneer Park
Kenton County Parks & Recreation will present Skittles Championship of the World on Saturday, June 21 at Pioneer Park! Not the candy, it's the game!
Skittles Championship of the World will be held in Shelterhouse 1 in Pioneer Park with sign up from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm. It's free to enter and participate! Play will begin immediately following an explanation and demonstration. A traveling trophy will be awarded to the new Skittles Champion of the World!
From Berea College's website, http://bereacc.stores.yahoo.net/skittlesgame1.html
"a Berea College diversion since 1929, Skittles has earlier origins in the 14th century French game of Quilles. Pull the string and send your spinner around the board. Topple as many pins as you can. Laugh frequently."
Anyone can play this game. That's right ~ anyone! Even you! Entrants will receive one "pull" at each of seven tables, representing the continents of the world, and scores will be tallied. Champions of each continent will advance to the finals where Skittles Champion of the World will be determined. You might even learn some Geography along the way!
If you or your group would like to help as scorekeepers or pinsetters, we can use your help. Free Kenton County Parks & Recreation t-shirts and softdrinks for volunteers! Please call me. Students: Need community service hours for school? I will be happy to sign your paperwork!
Pioneer Park is easy to find! The address is 3951 Madison Pike, Covington, KY 41017. From I-275, take Exit 80 (Covington/Independence). Go south (under I-275 overpass) and about 1 mile. You'll see the park on the right before you get to the entrance. Turn right as you enter the park and meet at Shelterhouse 1.
