NFL Youth Football Punt, Pass & Kick Contest
September 21
Young football fans will have the opportunity to exhibit their football skills when Kenton KCP&R and Independence Parks & Recreation present the NFL Youth Football Punt, Pass & Kick Football Competition. The event is free and open to boys and girls, ages 8-15 and will be held on Monday, September 21 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm in Memorial Park in Independence.
The NFL Youth Football Punt, Pass & Kick football competition allows youngsters to showcase their talents in punting, passing, and placekicking with scores based on distance and accuracy. Nearly 3.5 million youngsters nationwide participate in the annual competition.
No football shoes, cleats, or turf shoes are allowed. Only gym shoes (soft sole) will be permitted. No bare feet are allowed.
Age classification is as of December 31, 2009. Participants must fill out an entry form that can be obtained on site. A valid birth certificate and parental signature are required. Age-group winners at the Local competition will receive ribbons.
The top finishers from each of four age groups (8/9, 10/11, 12/13, 14/15) at the Local competition will advance to a Sectional competition at Georgetown on October 17. The winners at the Sectional competition will have their scores compared with other Sectional champions; the top five scorers from the pool of Sectional champions advance to the Team Championship.
Age group champions at this level will be declared NFL Youth Football Punt, Pass & Kick Champions. The top four finishers in the boys' and girls' divisions within each age bracket from the pool of 32 Team Champions will qualify for the National Finals at an NFL playoff game in January.
