Lincoln Ridge Disc Golf Course Clean-Up Day
March 21, 2009
The Lincoln Ridge (formerly Banklick Woods) Disc Golf Course Clean-Up Day has been set for Saturday, March 21. Meet at Shelterhouse 1 at 10:00 am. Trash bags and gloves will be provided and all volunteers will earn Kenton County Parks & Recreation t-shirts!
We will walk the disc golf course fairways and rough and pick up litter. We will pile sticks and blowdowns and create "rabbit-tat". Sticks, loosely piled, make great habitat for small birds and mammals, even snakes! If we make homes for the middle of the food chain, hopefully, we'll bring in some of what is now the top of the food chain: hawks, owls, falcons, and foxes.
Plan to work until noon. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Rain or shine – a couple of hours in a drizzle won't kill you!
Bring your plastic – golf discs, that is; we know you'll want to get in a round or two later! Call and let me know you'll be there to help! Call (859) 525-PLAY (7529) for details.
Lincoln Ridge Park is easy to find! The address is 420 Independence Station Rd., Independence, KY 41051. From I-75, take the Florence/Union exit. Go east to the 2nd stop light at Industrial Road. Turn right and go to 1303/Turkeyfoot Road. Turn right and go one-half mile to Independence Station Road (just past the Sunoco Food Mart). Turn left and go two miles to the park. The park will be on your left. We'll be set up in Shelterhouse 1. Or, from I-275, take the Turkeyfoot Road exit and go south about six miles to Independence Station Road. Turn left and go two miles to the park.
Call Kenton County Recreation at (859) 525-PLAY (7529) to see how you can help – we are always in need of volunteers and funding sponsors for our programs!
Remember, for news of upcoming programs, activities, and events to be held in Kenton County's parks, call the Recreation office at (859) 525-PLAY (7529).
