Kenton County Parks & Recreation, in cooperation with Kenton County Public Library, is excited to announce its Letters To Santa / Letters From Santa program.
As you can imagine, Santa's workshop is really humming at this time of year. Even so, each boy and girl who sends a letter to Santa will receive a return letter from Santa just in time for Christmas!
No postage to the North Pole is necessary but please be sure to give Santa full names and home addresses so that each child will receive his or her letter at home. Santa, of course, knows where each child lives but the post office needs complete home addresses!
Santa's helpers at Kenton County Parks & Recreation are busy making final preparations on the special Santa Express mailboxes for you to mail your child's "Letter To Santa". Mailboxes will be installed on Friday, November 9th. Santa's helpers will arrive at the Covington branch at 11:00 am and to the Erlanger branch by noon.
When mailing your child's letter to Santa, please remember to bring non-perishable food or personal care items (including diapers) for those less fortunate. Specially decorated barrels will be located right next to the mailboxes at each location. Last year, your kind donations totaled over 1,600 items but let's go for a record this year – our goal is 2,500 letters and 2,500 items! If we can collect over 850 items in one night for the Halloween activities, we can surely collect 2,500 items in a month, right? Hey, it's the season for giving!
All three branches of the Kenton County Public Library will have mailboxes for accepting letters. The libraries are located at 5th & Scott in Covington, 401 Kenton Lands Rd. in Erlanger, and 1992 Walton-Nicholson Rd. in Independence. Weekday library hours are 9:00 am-9:00 pm Monday thru Friday, with the exception of the Covington branch, which is open on Friday nights only until 6:00 pm rather than 9:00 pm. On Saturday, all branches are open from 10:00 am-5:00 pm. On Sunday, all branches are open from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm.
And, both Kenton County Courthouses will have Santa Express mailboxes where your child may mail his or her letter. The courthouses are located at 303 Court St. in Covington (open Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm) and on 5272 Madison Pike in Independence (open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-4:00 pm and on Wednesday until 6:00 pm).
Get into the holiday spirit! Take a few minutes right now and help your child write a Letter To Santa and visit your Kenton County Public Library to mail the letter and take advantage of the terrific holiday season programs there!
Remember, letters must be received by December 7th to give Santa time to write a return letter. Don't miss the fun of this free seasonal program!
