High School Disc Golf Championships ~
Boys Division & Girls Divisions
May 8 at Lincoln Ridge Park
Kenton County Recreation will present the 8th annual High School Disc Golf Championships on Saturday, May 8 at Lincoln Ridge Disc Golf Course (formerly Banklick Woods Park). The tournament will consist of two rounds of 18 holes each with a one-hour break between rounds.
On-site registration will begin at 12:00 pm with Player's Meeting at 12:30 pm, and shotgun start tee off at 12:45 pm.
There are separate divisions for Girls and Boys with the same Team and Individual Formats, described below.
All currently enrolled High School students are welcome to participate! Players must provide their current school year ID. An entry form must be completed and a parent's signature is required for entrants under the age of 18. An entry form will be available at the bulletin board next to Tee #1 at Banklick Woods.
Cost is $18 per player. Each entrant will receive a Disc Golf disc and t-shirt. Check-in will begin at 11:00 am at Shelterhouse 1.
Past winning teams include two-time defending champions Fairfield High School, Dixie Heights (2007 champions), St. Xavier (2006 champions), Anderson (2005 champions), McNicholas (2004 champions); and the inaugural contest winners, Highlands. What school will take home the title and traveling trophy this year may depend on you!
The tournament format will consist of two competitions: Team and Individual.
TEAM FORMAT: Enter as many team members as you can from your school. The combined score of the Top 5 members of your team will be compared to the combined score of the Top 5 members of the other teams. The team with the over-all lowest score will win the Team Championship. You must have 5 players from your school to participate in the team competition. The Top team will have their school name engraved on a traveling trophy to be kept at their school until the following year.
INDIVIDUAL FORMAT: Individual players will be playing for trophies and prizes. You do NOT have to have a 5-person team to enter the Individual competition. Your score from both rounds will go toward your Team and/or your Individual score. The player with the over-all lowest score for both rounds will win the Individual Championship. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 individual players.
Please note: The Disc Golf Course will be closed to the public for this event from noon until 6:00 pm. Please respect the players and tournament host and play another course or plan to play after 6:00 pm. Thanks for your consideration and cooperation!
