Note: This may become an every-other-year event. Dates just didn't work out for our vendors this year! Here's the announcement from 2008:
GO OUTSIDE!
(And Don't Come Home ´Til The Street Lights Come On!)
presented by Kenton County Parks & Recreation
May 17 ~ Richwood Flea Market ~ 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Great news! As you may or may not know, the road to Doe Run Lake has been closed to all but local traffic and we really thought we were going to have to cancel the event but all that has changed…as of today! We're back on! Yes, it's late notice! No, it's not at Doe Run Lake! And, YES! It's HAPPENING!
Due to the excited (and then disappointed) response for the program by the public and by the vendors and an offer by Mike Stallings at Richwood Flea Market to host the event there, we are excited to announce that Go Outside will happen! And we hope you will be excited, too! In cooperation with all of the other outdoor pursuits businesses and organizations listed below, KCP&R and Richwood Flea Market will present GO OUTSIDE! on Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
This half-day festival has been designed to bring public attention to a terrific place, which is Doe Run Lake. Unfortunately, Doe Run Lake is out – at least for this year. No matter! No worries! Go Outside was been designed with YOU in mind – for you to explore fun stuff that you and your family might like to do this summer. Go Outside is an outdoor enthusiast's dream come true! You'll have opportunities to speak with hobbyists and professionals – the experts! – about the outdoor activities they love. They'll be "showing and telling" what they do and what they have to offer! You'll see stuff you only read about in magazines, the stuff you've always wondered about, and thought "Well, that might be fun!" or "I wonder if I could do that?" And maybe you'll discover that adventure you've been hoping to find…right here in Kenton County and Kentucky!
You'll see the Go Outside banner when you enter – our vendors will be located between the farm market vendors and the building with the restaurant, indoor vendors, and restroom facilities. The $1 per vehicle entrance fee to the flea market will be in effect BUT considering the double-value of a terrific trade show of outdoor enthusiasts AND the fantastic flea market, it will be worth it!
