Kenton County operates and maintains seven areas of designated park lands, totaling nearly 500 acres. These include (from largest to smallest) Doe Run Lake Park (183 acres), Middleton-Mills Park (100 acres), Banklick Woods Park (78 acres), Pioneer Park(43 acres), Locust Pike Park (35 acres), Richardson Road Park (21 acres), and Bowman Field Park(4 acres).

Kenton County parks are maintained entirely by the efforts of a full-time staff of eight. An additional eight seasonal employees are hired from May through October.

All mowing, trimming, and turfgrass management is handled by our staff. We are responsible for all painting and cleaning, including restroom servicing, and trash pickup and removal.

And, we do our own improvements. We build everything - from big (shelterhouses) to small (picnic tables), and install new play structures and sidewalks ourselves.

The Parks staff has a wide variety of job duties. A typical workday might include maintenance of any of the following facilities and amenities:

shelterhouses (including restrooms, picnic tables, benches, and grills)
play areas (including structures and safety surfacing)
baseball, soccer, and football fields;
disc golf course
horseshoes and sand volleyball courts;
basketball and tennis courts
rustic hiking trails
paved walking and bicycle trails
boat launch ramps
fishing ponds (including one with an elevated pier

Our promise to the citizens of Kenton County is that we will always do our best for you.
